Clifton woman's club delivers cozy blankets to area nursing home residents: The ongoing winter chill and mounds of snow might have kept the Woman's Club of Allwood (Clifton) from their monthly meetings, but it certainly didn't keep them from their commitment to PROJECT COZY. An initiative to "Knit, Crochet and Collect" Lap Blankets for local nursing homes, Project Cozy is just one of the Woman's Club's many "adventures in giving".
With the help of members from the Clifton Library Knitting Club, the Woman's Club of Allwood was able to collect over two dozen hand-knitted lap blankets. This past Sunday, members from both organizations (pictured) were greeted by Chestnut Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff, June West and Annaliza Padilla. The handmade lap blankets were presented to residents of the center to keep them warm and cozy for months to come. The Chestnut Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 360 Chestnut Street, Passaic, houses over 100 residents year round. Their goal is "to ensure that residents maintain their independence for as long as possible".

TheWoman's Club of Allwood is so pleased to be participating in a USO/NJSFWC Project - collecting new children's books for a wonderful organization, United Through Reading. UTR send new children’s books to our troops on the front line, and arrange for them to read the books to their children, while being videotaped. The children then get a DVD of Mom or Dad reading to them, and also the book.
You can DONATE by purchasing a NEW children's book (see the approved list) or DONATE the cost of a book(s) and we will gladly do the shopping. WCA Members, please bring books to February’s meeting. Non-members can contact the WCA at (973) 968-4791.
